Radio ad Research

What is a radio ad?

A radio advertisement is air time or 'slot' a radio station allows businesses to buy and promote their product or service. This forms 97% of the money that most radio stations make. Even though radio had been around since the early 1900's, radio stations didn't start broadcasting continually until the 1920's. KDKH was the first radio station in the world to have an advertisement on air that was paid for. From this moment on radio would never be the same.

Billboard ads research

What is a billboard?

billboard (also called a hoarding in the UK and many other parts of the world) is a large outdoor advertising structure (a billing board), typically found in high-traffic areas such as alongside busy roads. Billboards present large advertisements to passing pedestrians and drivers. Typically showing large, ostensibly witty slogans, and distinctive visuals, billboards are highly visible in the top designated market areas. Bulletins are the largest standard-size billboards. Located primarily on major highways, expressways or principal arterials, they command high-density consumer exposure (mostly to vehicular traffic). Bulletins afford greatest visibility due not only to their size, but because they allow creative "customizing" through extensions and embellishments.

Famous billboards and analysis

This famous McDonalds billboard was used to help promote the new double cheeseburger. The billboard has many element that make it a successful advertisement. Firstly, the text is short and to the point. This slogan is also intended for a humorous reaction from the passer by. The colours are bright and clean. Nothing too confusing. This also makes the company logo stand out more.

This famous billboard ad has some controversial elements. The placement of billboards signs have caught the attention of environmentalists. They say billboards are replacing more trees and this adds to global warming. also billboards can be huge and block landmarks and landscapes. This is a form of visual pollution.

What I want to add in my billboard

Colour
The background color of my billboard will be bright red like the jpeg to the left. This will grab the attention of many people and make them pay attention.

Image
My image will be bright and large so passers by can see it with more problems.

Logo
The magazine logo will be clearly on show.
